How to Change Your Life

When I was depressed, working a job I hated, and feeling very unfilled, I wanted to change my life in every area. Now as a Life Coach, I get to help others create the life of their dreams through what I’ve learned on my path of self-discovery, and often times they become disappointed when I ask them to focus on just one area of life, when they want it all.

The way we do one thing is the way we do everything. The patterns of behaviour stemming from our subconscious beliefs are what create the life we have now.

When we shift a self-limiting belief (like low self-worth), we change our behaviour and therefore change the outcome. By choosing one area in life to focus on (sex, love, money, play, health or work), we can set clear goals, take action, and see progress, rather than trying to “fix” many different areas at once. Without clear direction, we might feel overwhelmed which sets us up for failure.

Life gives us opportunities to shift in everyday situations. When you’re able to put into practice a new learning, a new way of being in one area, that same behaviour will naturally show up in all areas of life. By putting these new beliefs into practice and seeing shifts, over time you’ll create more inner strength to trust yourself and believe in your inner guidance.

For example, if your area is health and your goal is to lose weight, you’re going to need to check in with the thoughts surrounding body image. You might be able to bully yourself into going to the gym and eating salads, but it won’t become a lifestyle shift until you uncover the subconscious beliefs, and actively choose to do things differently.

We are spiritual beings living in a physical world. Think of your life as a game. You can make all the power moves you want, but if they’re not aligned with your inner guidance, and you’re not having fun along the way, then what’s the point? So, instead of feeling scattered and overwhelmed with all the changes you “need” to make in your life, how can we make it fun, and powerful?

Choose one area of your life you’d like to create shifts in, and let the process be fun and joyful. Let it be an experiment of self-discovery, and get curious about what’s getting in the way of living a life you’d truly enjoy. We are meant to grow and evolve in this lifetime. Part of the fun is that we get to change and become better, more interesting versions of ourselves over time.

Working with a Life Coach offers a beautiful opportunity to have support on your path from someone who’s been there, and can guide you through your blind spots. If you feel like you’ve got a lot to change, take a deep breath, and relax. Start small, and determine your priorities, so you’ll feel strong taking consistent action, and I promise, you’ll see the results in all areas of your life.
