Mantra for June
Mantras are intentional statements repeated frequently, and a powerful tool in reshaping the way we see the world.
I always pick a word of the year, and most months I’ll set 3-4 goals, but I got inspired by Benshen (one of the courses that changed my life), and chose a mantra for June.
It’s my fourth or fifth time in the course, which includes daily meditation and a container for goal setting, among other incredible things. For a month, you set your objectives and get to work! Whatever goals I commit to, I make happen, whether that’s the hard stuff (getting this website up!), or the pleasurable things I’ve been avoiding (abhyanga!).
Leading up to June, I had a list of all the potential tasks I could accomplish, but none felt “right”. I spent so much time stressing over creating the perfect to-do list for June, but nothing was lighting me up, which stressed me out even more.
All of a sudden I realized, that the answer was to stop trying so damn hard.
Instead of committing to something I wasn’t truly vibing, I paused, and waited for enlightenment to come. I took walks, journalled, meditated, but it wasn’t until 2 weeks into the month that my perfect mantra came through.
MY PATH IS JOYFUL
I MOVE WITH EASE
How interesting that the words I needed to hear most were so far from the way I was trying to push and make things happen. Life is hard. But sometimes we forget that we can let things come and go with ease. If it’s not happening, don’t force it. You’re meant to enjoy the ride, and sometimes there is not answer, just more time. By gently letting things be, and not trying to change them all the time, you allow life to guide you, as you fall a little deeper into trust.
So.. what’s your mantra of the moment? Try to let your first thought pass over you, sit for a bit in stillness, and see if something new arrives. Notice what stories you tell yourself, and others, and get curious if there’s a more compelling one you can be choosing. When we are trying to create something new in our lives, it’s a powerful thing to be able to choose a different mindset.
