Talking to the Universe

The Universe to me is everything unseen, the magic and raison d’être in our lives. Some people prefer using the term “God” or “higher powers”, for this practice, choose whatever power feels right for you. Talking with the Universe is different than prayer, where you’re simply putting your wishes without requesting direct guidance.

I believe that we’re all here with a purpose to make this world a better place in our own unique way. When I feel off-track, or am needing some guidance I will talk with the universe, which is much easier than you think. The first step is getting really quiet, which is a perfect reason to strengthen our meditation practice. The more we sit in silence, the more we’re able to discern intuitive thoughts from anxiety, other peoples’ opinions, or past programming. If you don’t love meditation, try a quiet and slow activity by yourself like a walk in nature or long bath.

Once we’re in stillness, you simply ask in your mind whatever questions you have. The answer or response might not come right away, but something will always come through. Pay attention to people around you, conversations you hear, or indirect messages you receive in other areas of your life.

You can also ask for a symbol or sign that you’re on the right track, I’ve done this with a bunch of balloons, pink unicorn, and cold hard cash!

You are a powerful co-creator, and the Universe wants to work with and support you. Once you receive guidance, it’s your responsibility to take action. The Universe loves to feel like you’re working together, so I always do something to show it that I’m listening. The action step you’re given won’t look linear like the way you’re used to going from Point A to Point B, but the more you trust, the more you’ll be able to jump wildly where the Universe points you - and that’s where the magic is.

We all receive intuitive messages differently. I love Human Design for determining how I feel it. I receive guidance from a deep inner sense of knowing in my spleen, you can find yours here under authority. The more you start paying attention to and acting from your intuition, the more you’ll be able to trust in it.

If you’re new, here are a few practices to help you tune into your inner guidance and wisdom, and this is how I use intuition to make big decisions.
