The Power of Intuition

Intuition can be our biggest tool or hindrance, depending on how easily we take action. We are all intuitive beings, sometimes this world is just so noisy that we forget how to listen and trust in ourselves. Romantic partnership is the clearest example of intuition that I’ve found. We’ve all been there - what starts as a whisper that something’s amiss, turns into that unignorable, full body feeling, which inspires you to take action. Intuition creates sensations in our body, which, at a certain level, cause us to move out of our feelings of safety in the familiar, and venture into the scary unknown.

Ignorance is truly bliss. When your intuition starts screaming and you’re unable to continue ignoring the messages it’s sending, it can really suck! In those moments of discomfort, you’re in between a rock and a hard place, however, stepping past fear is where all the juiciness and opportunity for growth occurs.

A few days ago I woke up with that familiar uneasiness that something wasn’t right. Often times when we feel “not great”, it’s our body and soul’s way of asking us to do things differently. When you’re feeling low, or sad, sometimes it can just be emotions moving through, but other times it’s a wake-up call to start taking action towards a life that’s more in alignment with our current self. Habits, people, and opportunities serve us for a period, but once we’ve soaked in the lessons or expansion, we’ll start to feel the uncomfortable nudge towards change. It’s up to you to decide whether to ignore the call, or take action and shift.

The universe always wants to help us on our way, which is why it’s extremely powerful to get quiet and listen to your inner wisdom.

Intuition is available to us 24/7. It’s a muscle that can be developed, simply by tuning into that quiet voice within. Often when people are seeking to make a big change in their life, they don’t know where to start. Intuition can be a helpful tool on our paths, however, if we haven’t been paying attention to it in the smaller moments, it makes understanding the guidance in larger situations more challenging.

Below, I share some tips on how to start using your intuition as the force it is. Trust yourself angels, because you have deep wisdom within you, guiding your way on. By trusting and taking action through your intuition, you live more authentically and powerfully, which is a beautiful thing.

Tips for Increasing Intuition

  1. Forgo Google Maps

Your subconscious mind already knows what’s up and where to take you. The next time you’re driving, or walking somewhere you’ve been before, why don’t you get quiet, and ask yourself if you should turn left or right. You’ll be surprised at how good it feels to be guided in such a practical way.

  2. Ask yourself what you want to eat for breakfast, and listen

Our bodies want us to feel as good as possible, and we always know what we need. Tomorrow morning, ask yourself which coffee cup you’d like to use, or how you’d like to nourish yourself, and notice how powerful it feels in your body.

  3. Get Quiet

Start your day with 1-3 minutes of silence, intentional breathing, or listening to mantra. At the end of your time with self, ask yourself what you need to know for the day ahead. Bring yourself back to your words of support anytime you need extra-strength during your day.
