Discovering your Vision
We’re all born with desires that we’re meant to work towards throughout our lifetime. What often gets in the wIy of getting what we truly want is limiting beliefs of ourselves and what we think is possible for us in this lifetime. You don’t not know what you want, you’re just too scared to claim it because you might fail, or be judged in the process.
While I often like to journal about my reality, to increase awareness of my current behaviours, when I really want to dream big, I journal on this question:
“What would I ask for if I knew the answer would be yes?”
Too often we get stuck in the HOW. How things will happen, how we will get there, and how we will ever get out of our current situation. While the desires are ours, the how is often out of our control. Think about all the amazing things that have come to you in your lifetime, and how often they appear from magic, instead of logical and predictable ways.
So, for now, I invite you to let go of the “how” and focus on what you would ask for if you knew the answer would be yes. Dream big. Pay attention to the limiting beliefs that come up (make a note and come back to using the WHY method to unravel these limiting beliefs). Then, get back to dreaming big. This will help you connect with your deepest desires, the ones that are meant for you to work on throughout this lifetime.
To try this exercise, create some time and space for yourself, set the mood with candles or incense, get cozy or set yourself up for “work” at your fav coffee shop, turn off your phone, and set a timer for 15-20 minutes. If you get stuck simply repeat your name over and over again, and continue when new thoughts or images flow into your mind/heart.
Show up with curiosity, and don’t judge what visions come. After sitting with the question for a period of time and after your desires become clear, ask yourself the feelings you’ll have when you get what you want. These feelings can help you narrow your “Word of the Year”, and will focus your priorities as you continue creating your dream life.
