How to Cleanse Your Home

Homes carry energy, and are meant to support us during different chapters of our life. Whenever you want to bring in new energy, clear out the old, close or start a chapter, try smudging with palo santo or sage.

To start, accept exactly the place in life that you’re at, and show some gratitude to your home. This could be simply bringing up feelings of gratitude, or maybe you want to say “thank you!” out loud, or write a letter for how your home has supported you during this phase.

Next, grab some palo santo or dried sage bundle, you can find this at any health/spiritual store, and thank the Earth. Open all your windows, and light the edge of your palo santo/dried sage bundle on fire. You should see smoke, but it should not be totally on fire.

Start low, and let the smoke rise through the ethers, taking with it anything you’re ready to release. Energy can stagnate, so focus on the corners (think cobwebs of energy), and around doorways, where energy and new opportunities flow through.

As you’re smudging, hold whatever intentions you desire. It could be desires of safety, new opportunities, or thanks for the time you’ve spent in your home. For doorways, I also bless those who enter, as a fun bonus.

As a bonus when I move into a new home, I will salt the perimeter of the home for extra protection. Think Hocus Pocus when the salt circles acted as a protective barrier.

XOXO
