My Latest Self-Investment
The workout mentality from my youth was that of imperfection - I was always worried about my body, or not being good enough, and felt like exercise was punishment. Fast forward a few years, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the feelings of release, strength, and expansion I get from a work-out. I’ve been loving going to local classes, and doing 20 minute YouTube workouts, but my desire to feel powerful got me reflecting on when I’ve felt that before in my life. Of course, working out came to mind, but when I dug a little deeper, it was overcoming those workouts when I thought I couldn’t do even one more crunch.
When we push ourselves beyond what we believe is physically possible, we show ourselves that we can do it mentally as well.
So often our subconscious mind keeps us stuck where we’re at - enter a coach, someone who can push you through your limits and hold your potential. For a while, I let “not having enough money” hold me back from hiring a personal trainer, but saying hell yes to my body (and myself), felt incredibly powerful and liberating. Deciding to invest in my health like this was something I never thought that I could afford. Digging into my money values made me realize that there’s nothing I’d rather spend money, and it felt incredibly powerful to go against my patterns and try a new way of being.
Investing in myself has forced me to prioritize my life around working out, and I love the purpose it’s giving me. Beyond the physical, this 4 month commitment has me growing and expanding in all areas of my life. I’m also learning new ways of eating, and how the body works. So far it’s been a struggle learning new ways to get enough protein to support that booty growth, but I feel grateful to be a beginner again, because I know the potential to grow is so high. I am out of my comfort zone, and there is so much knowledge to gain.
If you’re wanting to grow in your life, what’s one area you’d never think worthy of investing your time or money in? Our ego wants to keep us safe and sound by coming up with a million excuses not to do “that thing”, but I invite you to get curious on who you want to be, and what can best support you in getting there. You are worthy of committing to yourself.
Let. me know in the comments how you want to feel, and what you’ll do to get there! XOXO
