Your New Year Reset

As someone who lives intentionally, the quiet space between Christmas and New Year is my favourite time of the year. If we don’t take a pause to assess where we’re at, then we can’t do things differently to get different results.

Each year I pick a word of the year, aka New Year’s Resolutions the fun way, but this year I wanted to share a journalling exercise is you feel like going deep and reflecting on 2023 before digging into what’s to come. To start, you’ll want to dedicate some time and space for your practice. Maybe it’s with coffee in the stillness of early morning, perhaps you want to go for a walk and talk through the prompts in your mind, or maybe it’s cozy with a tea curled up in a blanket.

Try this practice solo, or with similarly hearted people, and let me know in the comments what magic you find. XOXOXO

Journal Prompts for a Fresh New Year

  1. How do you feel?

    1. Write from the present momen and let it out (no judgement!), we need to start exactly where we’re at.

    2. If you’re stuck or want to go deeper, journal about how you currently feel as it relates to health, sex, money, love, career, and play.

  2. What went well?

    1. What were your wins? Any surprises? Goals achieved? If you chose a word of the year, how did it go?

  3. What didn’t go your way?

    1. Reflect on any challenges, things you avoided, and losses.

  4. How do you want to feel? Word of the Year

    1. Sit for a moment, take a few long and slow breaths, and let your mind and body wander. What do you truly desire? Sink into the feeling of that. We manifest and take action through feeling. So if you want a house, maybe you crave security and comfort, a partner maybe love and abundance, new job abundance or feeling seen.

    2. Narrow this down to the feeling you resonate with the most. Take some time to get here.

  5. What can you do to get there?

    1. List out all the action steps that could help you create that feeling.

    2. This is so important because there needs to be action steps you can always take to create your desired feeling. One year i picked the word “radiance” and other than physical appearance and wearing lots of jewellery, it was hard to cultivate radiance on the daily. If it’s not a big action list, go back to #4, and try another word
