What Are You Proud Of?

When we have big goals, sometimes it can be easy to compare our paths to another’s and feel like we’re so far away from what we want. By taking a moment to reflect on your unique path, and noting what you’re proud of, it shows us just how far we’ve come. Like gratitude, feeling proud of yourself is a powerful force.

Healthy pride strengthens your desire to take action, as you can see to believe your strength’s impact in the past. Reflecting on what we’re proud of also shows us that we can do hard things, and create change in our lives. Feelings of pride impact our self-esteem and beliefs about ourselves, which can either hinder or accelerate future actions.

So, if you’re feeling a little meh about your life, and like nothing will change, I invite you to reflect on something you’re proud of yourself for today, this month, and past year. If nothing is coming to mind, think even smaller. Did you brush your teeth today? Eat a vegetable this month? Start small, and then work your way up to bigger accomplishments, like setting a professional boundary at work, or sticking to that new workout regime you’ve been working so hard on.

Healthy pride is a beautiful thing. Let it fuel you to keep creating slow, steady, and consistent changes in your life. During periods where you feel like nothing is changing in your life, look back with pride on things you’ve already achieved, and let that fuel you to keep going.
